Founded in 1870, Fettes College is the legacy of Sir William Fettes who, after the death of his son in 1815, devoted his wealth to building a school for children.
Fettes College, home of Fettes Enterprises Ltd, is a unique and inspiring location, situated just one mile from the historic and cultural centre of Edinburgh and is a leading co-educational boarding and day school for children aged 7-18. Fettes College enjoys a reputation for excellent academic results, the highest level of pastoral care and a proud sporting tradition.
The college’s magnificent main building itself is a neo-Gothic masterpiece set in 90 acres of private parkland and is only 20 minutes away from Edinburgh International Airport and 10 minutes from Waverley train station.
Fettes College is a remarkable school with a long history of providing opportunities for people from all backgrounds. The College has a tradition of excellence in academic, sporting and cultural activities and we encourage our pupils to stretch and challenge themselves in everything they undertake.
Our pupils benefit from the wide range of activities they can enjoy in our beautiful grounds as well as being able to take advantage of the proximity of the centre of Edinburgh and the outdoors beyond.
Every parent and pupil shares in the individual and collective success we achieve at Fettes Prep School. In a supportive environment, children will develop a thirst for knowledge and skills, while acquiring a commitment and respect for others.
Fun and excitement should be a central part of growing up and a healthy method of inspiring children to excel in every area of school life. In the classroom, on stage, on the sports field and in a host of other activities, Fettes Prep School pupils love life.
At Fettes, we aim to make the admissions process as relaxed and informative as possible. Our Registrar, Mrs Harriet Marshall, and her assistant, Mrs Joanna McVicar, will be your main points of contact throughout the admission process and will be happy to discuss any questions you may have along the way. If you would like your child to gain a true understanding of life at Fettes, we would encourage them to have a taster day to shadow current pupils and stay overnight in one of our boarding houses if appropriate.
